A Day Off

Well a bit of a day off, it was Sunday after all! The working bit was checking out the wedding venue for next weeks wedding of Ross & Chloe at Little Silver Hotel in Tenterden, Kent. A really lovely part of the world, as a Greenwich wedding photographer, it’s good to get to venues I wouldn’t normally get to. Anyway, back to the day off. Myself & Sarah followed our trip to Tenterden by driving down to Winchelsea to catch the last of the days light. Quite surprised to see a number of starfish on the beach, the light was gorgeous & would have made a perfect backdrop for a beach wedding, albeit a little on the chilly side! Well we both managed a few shots between us, but this was my favourite from the day.

Charity Ball

Tonight saw us fighting our way home in thick snow from an Essex Charity Ball. Event photography can be good fun, with everybody getting dressed up for the evening, all in the name of a good cause. Friern Manor Country Hotel is a fabulous venue and I’m sure it would be great to be a wedding photographer at Friern Manor.

Isabelle

Isabelle came to the Blackheath studio today for some funky portraits. There was a number of great shots to choose from, but I quite liked this one.

SWPP

Well the SWPP Convention draws to a close and as a South London wedding photographer, I thought it was a good couple of days. If you’re a cheap wedding photographer or a contemporary London wedding photographer, I’m sure you would have found something of interest. I’m sure all the best wedding photographers were there, along with the best London portrait photographers and the best portrait photographers full stop!

So many good photographers there, how would a wedding couple choose their photographer? I guess the two biggest ways would be either recommendations or google. But how would you search, a broad brush or quite specific? If you have your venue booked, you could refine it to that, for example, Sundridge Park Wedding Photographer would be a good one, or Cooling Castle Wedding Photographer. If you live in Essex, Stockbrook Manor Wedding Photographer would be a good one. Or you could just search by location such as Essex Wedding Photographer, or Kent Wedding Photographer.

Feel free to leave a comment & let me know. How did you find this site for example?

SWPP Convention – Best London Wedding Photographers?

Not just the best wedding photographers in London, but from Kent, Essex, Surrey, Sussex, Middlesex, in fact, from all over the UK. Yes it’s that time of year again when the great and the good meet up in London’s Hammersmith for the Society of Wedding Photography Professionals, or SWPP Convention as it’s known. The likes of Julia Boggio, Nick Ghionis, Damian Lovegrove, Gordon McGowan, to name but a few, will all be lecturing there. As a Greenwich wedding photographer, Hammersmith is not to bad a journey for me, and so I along with many others will be making the annual trek next week. If you’re a wedding photographer London based, or any of the home counties, it’s well worth a visit. The journey for me, from Lewisham is pretty straight forward. I guess all the local wedding photographers will be there from Lee, Depford, Eltham, Sidcup, Dulwich, Brockwell, Bromley, Orpington.
Full report to follow.

Ali & Richard

One of the great things about shooting weddings is you meet some amazing people and sometimes they become friends. This is true of Ali & Richard, a real fun couple who made our day at their wedding not seem like work at all.

Probably my favorite moments of any wedding are just before the bride and groom get to see each other for the first time. The bride with her father, just before walking down the aisle and the groom anxiously waiting for his bride to appear. With Sarah being up front with Richard and myself sticking with Ali, we managed to capture both these memories of a wonderful day.

For a Blackheath wedding photographer, it was great to return to my roots and shoot a winter wedding in Essex

Chislehurst Chiropractic

Jason & Tara at Chislehurst Chiropractic needed some new shots for their website and marketing strategy and I was happy to oblige. A great place to get your joints looked at, think doctors surgery meets 5* hotel and you’re on the right lines!

Here we have Jason, Tara and Rebecca in the reception.

Maggie & Steve

Had the privilege to shoot Maggie & Steve’s wedding today, great couple and Maggie looked stunning! Really pleased with how this worked out in the tight confines of a hotel room at Selsdon Park Hotel. Fantastic venue, amazing day, and some fantastic photos!

Ian and Nancy

Not just Ian and Nancy, but the whole family inc brothers, sisters, nieces, grandparents et al. This shot caught my eye though, I love the bond there between father and daughter

Sunday is the day of rest?

Full day of portraits today, firstly Cassie with her two children. For whatever reason, I seem to be getting a run of two year olds and today was no exception. At two years old, you can no longer sit children down in a position & get some good shots before they move, but they are still not old enough to take direction. So, all you can do is hope that whilst running around on the backdrop, they turn and face you for long enough to get some decent shots! Joking aside, the whole family was a lot of fun & we got some shots I know they will be thrilled with.

Next up was Steve and Laura whose two boys were thankfully old enough to take direction, which does make my job a little easier :-)

Incidentally, Steve and Laura had intended to bring their dog, a six month old Labradoodle. Now that would have been interesting!

Then we had Kris with his family who brought a range of props which really made my job easier. Ask for an impression of Frankie Cocozza from X Factor and cue Victor on the guitar!
