Emma and Richard’s wedding had us traveling to the North Norfolk coast to Holkham Hall. A really beautiful part of the UK and a venue to match.
Weddings are a pretty new thing at Holkham Hall and this was our first time shooting there. With this in mind we met Emma and Richard there the day before the wedding to have a good look around and discuss the running order of their day.
Not everybody gets to be a Holkham Hall wedding photographer, so we felt very privileged to be at this grand venue. The Hall is surrounded by beautiful deer park overlooking the lake and is stunning by anyones standards.
The wedding day started with Emma’s bridal preparations in her parents cottage right on the coast. As always we photographed all the details first including flowers, shoes, and Emma’s dress from J Crew. Once hair and makeup were complete we were able to take a few bridal portraits before heading off to Holkham Hall.
The wedding ceremony was held in The Statue Gallery, an elegant room lined with works of art brought back from Italy 300 years ago. After the guests moved into The Saloon for drinks and canapés. We used this opportunity to take candid photos of everyone enjoying the stunning surroundings.
After Emma and Richard had spent some time with their guests receiving their congratulations we moved into The Marble Hall for photos. This is arguably the grandest room at Holkham Hall and is fantastic for photos. We made the most of having the hall to ourselves for a while before inviting all the guest onto the stairs for a big group photo.
Just when everyone thought the day couldn’t get any better, the venue for the wedding breakfast was revealed. A tipi had been set up on the edge of the lake and looked great, inside was complete with sofa’s, a dance floor and tables set for dinner.
Then to top the day we were all treated to a wonderful sunset that reflected in the lake, this was certainly a tipi with a view!
We left the party with everyone packed onto the dance floor enjoying the band. We are sure they would have had a great night. Emma and Richard many congratulations on your marriage.
